Each child at Scoil Iósaif Naofa is given the opportunity to learn a musical instrument, to sing and to participate in speech and drama activities.
As part of the curriculum, all classes cover the three strands of the curriculum, including Composing, Listening and responding and performing. All pupils also experience the eight elements of music, which includes tempo, rhythm, pulse and pitch.
The school band and choir performs regularly in public throughout the year. An annual recital takes place at the Galway Clinic. The choir sing Christmas carols at the local Oran Town Shopping Centre and march in the annual St Patricks Day parade.
This year, the school band helps open the Galway rally by marching on the first night in Oranmore. They represented the school and community excellently and we were very proud of them.
